Applications are invited for a part time vacancy/role for the position of Admin Asstt/Development Officer for the Ipswich Hindu Samaj.
You must be a enthusiastic & energetic Person with IT ability. Knowledge of Indian traditions & culture will be preferable but not essential. You must be a laptop holder.
IHS will carry out an enhanced CRB of the appointee at its own cost, according to its Child Protection Policy.
You will be working upto 32 hrs per month either from home or from the IHS Centre and keep record of work done on the Microsoft Excell sheet, and will report to the IHS Secretary & Manager.
The appointment will be initially for 3 months(13 weeks) and may be extended to 6 months (26 weeks)
The wages will be paid in arrears at the end of the month. The level will depend on the age of the appointed person.
The key objective is to improve/increase participation from young persons by developing information & activities, which would encourage them to use IHS premises and develop activities for young persons particularly from the Indian community.
The person appointed will undertake the following tasks:
- Compiling list of local young persons, between the ages of 13 to 25 via IHS contacts.
- Visiting youth centres (preferably managed by Indian youth leaders) in Suffolk/Leicester or London Boroughs for gaining knowledge or experience with support from the IHS.
- Canvass views/opinions using email or any other electronic media eg facebook/twitter etc what do young persons want to see happening.
- Organise of events for young persons with leaders from other groups as guests.
- To work along with Suffolk Youth Association and to seek their assistance in his/her work
The main output from this assignment will be a report for the IHS Management Committee covering the next 12 months, with recommendations on a programme of activities which can be organised by the local young people for the local young people, supported by the IHS.

You are also welcome to sing bhajans in any Indian language and in honour of your Isht Devta.
If you want to play musical instruments (harmonium & dholak) and to make use of the PA system, they are available at the Mandir. You may if you wish can bring your own musical instruments.

Rooms available for meetings, social & cultural activities at the Ipswich Hindu Samaj Community Centre & Mandir
The EC & Trustees at their recent meeting held on 9th May 2011 agreed to let rooms for meetings, social & cultural activities at the following rates:

Prayer room for special pujas or celebrations £15 per hour; £35 per session & £51 for upto 6 hours (A session to comprise of up to 3 hours)

Lounge for birthday parties etc at £15 per hour, £35 per session & £50 for up to 6 hours. rates inclusive of use of kichen facilities.

Gold Room £10 per hour + £5 per half hour and £25 per session.
-
Small rooms £7 per hour + £4 per half hour & £15 per session.
-
Bhajan Evenings sponsorship from £31 per sponsorship.
-
Blessings on birthdays or at anniversaries £11 donations.

When hired for two sessions or up to six hours for parties. there will be an attendance charge of £5 per hour or £25 for upto 6 hours.

For hiring table for sale of food or sealed snacks £15 per table for up to one session and £25 for up to 6 hours on celebrations days.
No food will be consumed in the Prayer Room except for Parshad offered in hand. And also no food will be taken upstairs for consumption. Hirers for special events will help Mandir volunteers in cleaning the prayer room, lounge & kitchen.
If any hirer or user needs a Pujari/Priest from London or Midlands - their usual fees is £51 + mileage at 40p per mile. If coming by train, then train fare, plus other incidental charges eg taxi fare + fees + accomodation etc. Arrangements can be made or contact details can be provided.

Opening Timings:
Every Saturday and Sunday: 4pm to 7pm. Aarti will be at 6.15pm.
Every 3rd Tuesday of the month Bhajan Evening from 7.30pm to 9.30pm with Aarti at 9pm.
